Introduction to the Two Week Series:  “What Must I Do to Please God?”

Nov 08, 2024

Tomorrow, we will embark on a two week journey titled “What Must I Do to Please God?” Using the Amplified Bible (AMP) as our guide, this series will dive into Scripture to uncover how we can live lives that reflect God’s desires. From the foundational commandments to practical, everyday actions, each day will focus on a key aspect of pleasing God—beginning with the call to love Him with all our heart, soul, and mind.

Across these two weeks, we will explore essential spiritual practices like abiding in Christ, yielding to the Spirit, transforming our minds, and embracing our role as ambassadors of Christ. We will not shy away from the hard truths, such as the call to surrender daily and grieve the sins of the world. Instead, we will face these challenges with the hope and joy found in God’s promises. This journey is designed to strengthen your faith, deepen your understanding of Scripture, and equip you to walk in obedience.

Taken from Day 1 here’s an example of what to expect!

The journey to pleasing God begins with a choice. A decision about whom we will serve. Will we live for God or the world? There is no middle ground in this matter, “and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul (life), and with all your mind (thought, understanding), and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30 (AMP). As Jesus reminded us in Matthew 22:37-40 (AMP), “And Jesus replied to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’ The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments.”, the greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. These two commandments sum up all of Scripture.

The Bible also teaches that pleasing God is tied directly to the state of our hearts and the depth of our obedience to His Word, “But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel [that tells the good news of salvation through faith in Christ], so we speak, not as [if we were trying] to please people [to gain power and popularity], but to please God who examines our hearts [expecting our best]”, 1 Thessalonians 2:4 (AMP). As we prepare for this journey together, we will reflect on these teachings and the steps required to live a life that pleases Him.

On the first day of our devotional, we will explore the foundation of pleasing God—choosing whom we serve. We’ll begin by looking at the greatest commandment, understanding how it sets the tone for the entire Christian walk. Through this reflection, we’ll focus on how loving God with all that we are is the first step in aligning ourselves with His will.

This series will be a guide to deepening your spiritual walk and uncovering God’s desires for your life. Join us as we explore what it truly means to please Him.

This two week  devotional series will serve as a roadmap for anyone seeking to live a life that pleases God. It will cover topics ranging from loving God with all your heart to being transformed by the renewal of your mind. Over the course of these days, we will look at what it means to abide in Christ, yield to the Holy Spirit, live in prayer and thanksgiving, and walk as true ambassadors of Christ.

Together, we’ll explore how to rejoice always, surrender to God daily, and grieve for the brokenness of the world. Through Scripture, reflection, and practical application, this series will guide you toward a deeper relationship with God, encouraging you to live fully in His will and grace. Join us in this journey as we discover how to please the One who loves us beyond measure.
