Wow. It's already May. The last few years have been a blur, haven't they? This year has been particularly busy for me in non-writing ways. Kid2 moved into an apartment across town, Kid1 and I moved into a smaller place (and it was a terrible experience), and I just took an unplanned, last-minute, and rushed trip to see Kid3 in their place up North. It was a long drive, but worth it to see my baby. I'm still working at finding a job to help support my writing habit. Some positive signs in that direction, but no employment yet.
Somehow, amid all of that, I made my 75K goal for Camp Nano. No idea how that happened or how much of the words are usable, but we'll see when I get into edits. The project was a fast draft of a 3 novella series which has the working title of Werebear Rescue Rangers. It's one part of my writing plan for 2022/2023, a plan that includes finishing two partially-written items, Regarding Henry and the Demonspawn series, and finishing the two new items, Werebears and Big Bobby Ray. BBR has had a bit of a setback. I've had to replot the entire thing, which means the bulk of my current words may be scrapped. I hated to do it, but it just wasn't working as it was.
Getting back into "big" writing projects has been rough after essentially six years off, but I finally feel like I'm making headway with meeting a regular writing schedule and word goals. I'm slowly remembering how to write. It's a little frustrating, though. I used to be able to sit and just get the words out, but that isn't happening now. Maybe they will flow again with some practice. That's a thing, right?
I also have a goal of working on social media a bit more. until now, I've been putzing on Twitter pretty much exclusively, but I've opened a Mastodon account and am trying to be active over there as well. I'm not seeing as much conversation there thus far, but I am new, so maybe I'm just not in the right circles yet. You can follow me on Mastodon at https://mstdn.social/@VoireyLinger
In between the writing and unpacking, I'm still working on website updates. I hope to have it completely in shape sometime this summer, but it's a loose goal. I did add a heat level chart to the library, so readers can know what to expect from my work. I'll have a link to that included with my book listings.
So, things are moving, despite some setbacks. I'm still forging ahead with my efforts to get back to writing and publishing. I'm also looking at a possible new path, which is always a little scary for me. My goals are staying small until I get my feet under me.
