Just for Today,
I am Calm,
I will Trust,
I am Grateful,
I am Honest in my work,
I am Kind to every living thing.
This post is going to explore the 4th Principle.... I am Honest in my work.
It took me until recently to fully absorb what this Principle means to me and how to apply it to my everyday life, which considering we are currently 'locked down' due to Covid-19 and I have spent more time NOT working than working over this last year, is a little ironic.
Its not difficult to be Honest in my work....if we take the Principle at face value... Don't Steal, or Lie or Cheat...in my work environment...Simple. Don't claim others success as your own, for example.
That concept tends to speak to your moral compass, assuming you have one.... and I would like to believe that being called to Reiki or any kind of "greater good" path means that you do, and that its pretty likely that being Dis-Honest is not something you easily or intentionally embrace.
So where is the kicker here...?
Whilst not working, I have had a lot more time for thinking, or rather Contemplation... about what aspect of Work the Principle refers to.... My Spiritual work? 🙏 Housework? Working out??💪 Not being at my place of employment has encouraged me to view the word WORK in a different way.... There is the work we enjoy doing, the work we would rather not, the work that is necessary and the work we do for others....basically work = DO.
I am Honest in EVERYTHING I DO.
If we apply Honesty to everything we do, what does that actually look like....?
AUTHENTICITY.
Being genuine.
Actions aligning with words. Meaning what we say, and then DOING what we say.
INTEGRITY
Follow through.
COMMITMENT.
Keeping our PROMISES, to OURSELVES and to others.
THIS is the interpretation I use when I recite the Principles, THIS is my "come-away" feeling, that just for today I WILL DO, WHAT I SAY I WILL DO. Nothing more, Nothing less.
I Will be Honest in my Work. 💙💙💙
