I’m building visvijvers.com: a map of the fishing ponds in Belgium, showing which fish each pond holds: trout, carp, coarse fish, sturgeon and more.
The idea is simple. If you want a day out fishing, you currently have to dig through Facebook pages, old club websites and lists that have been out of date for years. I want to bring that together in one place: where the pond is, which fish are in it and how to get there. In Dutch, French and English.
There are more than 460 ponds on the map so far. I look up each one, check it, and add the address, contact details and fish species. It’s a lot of digging, and it’s far from finished.
I do this in my spare time. A coffee helps cover the domain name and hosting, and the hours that go into researching and checking.
Know a pond that’s missing, or spotted something wrong? Tell me through the site. That helps at least as much as a coffee.
