The Harsh Reality of Life

The Harsh Reality of Life

Sep 12, 2025

We all live our lives in search of happiness, success, and stability. From childhood, we are taught that if we work hard, everything will be good. But a bitter truth of life is that it is not as ideal as it seems to us.

In life, along with happiness, there is also sorrow, and along with success, there is also failure. It is uncertain, temporary, immutable, and ultimately leads to death.

imageNo matter how rich, powerful, or famous someone is, death calls everyone equally. For a moment, we forget that death is also an inseparable part of this life. Death is inevitable, and it ends everything.

Relationships, money, fame, everything is temporary. What is yours today may belong to someone else tomorrow. And it is this instability of life that teaches us that every moment is precious. We must savour life in every breath and cherish every little moment.

The true purpose of life is not just to seek happiness or achieve success, but to fully live every experience, whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, whether life brings success or failure.

Happiness is fleeting. It is a momentary feeling that soon fades away. Sorrow is felt for a longer time, while joys pass in an instant. Therefore, we must understand the value of every small happiness.

Another bitter truth of life is that all our relationships are based on self-interest. Only a relationship with God is selfless. As long as circumstances are in our favour, people stay with us. Otherwise, only in difficult times does it become clear who truly belongs to us.

Beyond our thinking, our existence is probably not important to anyone. Just as the world continues when we are here, it will continue when we are not. Our absence will not make a big difference in this world. People will only cry for a day, and then life will again take its course.

This also reflects the harsh reality of life that our hard work does not always pay off.

Not every hardworking person succeeds, and not every successful person is hardworking.

Sometimes, luck and circumstances prove to be more important than effort. This is the uncertainty of life.

But despite all these harsh truths, life is beautiful if we start enjoying every moment, and learn to accept happiness and sorrow equally, not getting overly excited when happiness comes, and not getting overly sad when sorrow comes.
