The Need For Connection & Religious/Spiritual Speak

Nov 27, 2025

A couple of months ago, I reached out to a woman I had never met but had seen her online for some time. She runs a local business - a very successful business - one she built with love and help and support of others. She was going through a very difficult situation at the time she created that business - escaping a toxic marriage. Her story spoke to me. I literally felt that nudge, that inner prompt to write to her (the "god nod"), share my story, ask for help. So, I took a chance and wrote her, only I left out the part about asking for help. I just didn't have the courage at that moment. Plus, it felt "too soon". I don't know, I just decided to reach out and open up a dialogue.

A week or so later she wrote back and essentially gave me a religious lesson. While thanking me, she said I needed God, as she did, and I needed to trust God to guide me, that He had a plan for me.

I felt a bit deflated. I didn't need religious proselytizing. I needed to know SHE saw me. SHE heard me. You know, a real, live person.

And perhaps, God WAS guiding me by reaching out to HER.

So, in a moment of courage, I wrote her back, thanking her for responding, saying I had truly felt Divinely Inspired to reach out to her (because I honestly had), then wording it in a way I thought she could relate to, I said that I was seeking some support, and I felt this connection was part of His plan.

I never. heard. back.

Why do we do this to one another?

Why do we dismiss one another like this?

Our situations were so similar. And it made me feel like I can't trust in those nudges. I can't trust in God. But I worked with this and realized, while the Universe works through each of us, we don't always recognize this.

This isn't the first time I've experienced this. When I have reached out to others seeking support, I am mostly told what to do. Pray. Call this agency. Go over there, go over here. Pretty much the message is "go away I don't want to help you or I can't and instead of being honest I am going to send you on what is essentially a wild goose chase."

And since when did it ever become ok to pass around another human in need as though they are a side dish at a meal?

The Creator works through us all. We are all connected TO that same Spark of Life.

Doesn't anyone else think that when we are gifted with the chance to make a difference in someone's life, that this IS the Creator (God/Jesus/Universe) coming through saying: "Here. Fellow human in need. Help them if you can."

?

Or is it easier to think we are the experts on the needs of others?

Is it easier to remember our bible lessons or new age readings and share words instead?

Is it easier to push someone off on another person or system or agency?

Perhaps, yes. Modern ways have us more disconnected, tuned out and exhausted than at any other time in our known history.

But is this the best way to connect with one another?

I don't think so.

And connection is what I seek. Safe connection. After a lifetime of not understanding this, I am finally learning to recognize it. And I will tell you this: When it's authentic and when it feels safe, THAT is when God/Creator is experienced.

And this corner of the Universe needs far more of that.
