Everybody Wants To Rule The World: My Top 7 Ideas for Utopia

Oct 27, 2025

Throwback Sunday (yes that's a term because as the title says, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, and tonight, I am visualizing the kind of world I would create). Everybody wants to rule the world now and then. Here are some goodies that would be included in My World. V's World, let's call it.

1) Stores for introverts. No more than 10 people allowed in at a time. Logistical nightmare? Not really considering half the population are extroverts and as such, we wouldn't have to worry about them venturing into our private little world as they would have no need to be in such an environment. Imagine shopping in such conditions, no matter what time of day it is. No one bumping into us. No one in the checkout line standing far too close, violating every one of our personal space boundaries. No more saying "excuse me" as you pass by someone in the aisle. And the best part? You can actually dance to the music the stores play - right there in the aisle - even doing some 1940's swing moves or The Hustle style from the 70's if you want or you have someone with you.

2) Double the width of lanes on the roads and put sensors on cars so that they cannot get close than 3 car lengths behind you. An invisible forcefield emitted. Imagine how WONDERFUL that would be. Feel that in your body - all of that space - created just for you. Reminds me of that ending scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off when that little old lady is in front of Ferris' dad, driving as though she owned the entire road, weaving back and forth, unable to decide "do I want to be off to the right? no? how about a little bit to the left. nah, let's go back to the right." Hey, as my dad says, when you get to be a certain age, you have earned the right to create your own rules of the road.

3) Free Cookies. Everywhere. 24/7. They are placed in pretty little baskets, distributed all over the world. Middle of the night hankering for a cookie? Hop in the car and enjoy your travels on that wide lane road knowing other middle-of-the-nighter cookie fans can't get closer than 3 car lengths, using your GPS Cookie Indicator Map, you find the nearest basket and help yourself to a cookie.

4) Bells. Bells are allowed to ring again throughout the world. Big bells - the kind from our past. Those big beautiful bells were said to create a frequency that wards off demons. (Perhaps that's why they were so popular in churches.) The first obvious space to put those would be back in Washington, D.C. Every hour they would chime, their beautiful tones emanating throughout the local area, purifying, cleansing, providing a wonderful moment if you happen to have your hand in one of those free cookie baskets.

5) Soft Regenerating Hand Warmers provided for free throughout those areas that experience temperatures below 50 degrees. As someone who is more mature in calendar years, I have a HUGE appreciation for warm hands. I actually have some battery powered hand warmers and while they are quite beneficial on walks during the colder months (and useful for such occasions as our 5-hour power outage early this morning), they're hard and impersonal. Plus, they don't hold power more than a few hours. So, my idea is soft warmers that somehow regenerate themselves. I'll leave the details to the technical/mechanical types, of which I am not. I would rather spend my time coming up with the ideas themselves, eat a free cookie and let others flush out the details.

6) Afternoon pasta bowls followed by 30 minute naps. Doesn't that sound wonderful? A bowl of warm pasta with melted butter, fresh parmesan cheese followed by a 30 minute nap (blankie's are recommended by optional). Parts of Europe actually shut down for 1-2 hours for such things. Why not do it everywhere? Or if pasta isn't your thing, there's always the Free Cookie to put you in the mood for a mid-day slumber.

And lastly, inspired by Seinfeld, number 7: Whenever someone sneezes or coughs, or bumps into you, runs over your foot with their shopping cart because you chose to shop at one of those extroverted stores instead of the introverted store, say something cute like "You're SO good looking!" Or "MY don't you smell great today!" Or "That haircut of yours. I MUST have it! Who is your stylist?" OR if you have an extra cookie because you had a few extra hankerings for those free cookies, hand them a cookie and say "Doughlighted to meet you!"

May the creativity of The Universe find its way to you and inspire you to Rule Your Own World.
