This page exists to support Uncle Maximilien and his team in creating the Washboard Sessions.

🧼 CONTEXT

Since 2019, all sessions have been self-produced and recorded 100% live in our independent studio. The only funding we receive is royalties from YouTube and streaming services, and sometimes a fee from collaborations with institutions. However, these amounts are certainly not enough to provide a professional fee for the team members (musicians, technicians, and myself). Ideally, I would like to be able to pay them CHF 100 per person for each session. In the meantime, you can buy us a coffee :)

🫧 BIO

Uncle Maximilien is the founder and host of the Washboard Sessions! The concept of these mini-live sessions is to invite an artist to arrange a song of his choice for a maximum duration of one minute, in order to adapt to the format of social networks, but also to challenge his creativity and his musical skills by integrating the washboard. The style is usually acoustic and, like some famous live sessions such as Tiny Desks or Scary Pockets, everything is recorded "live".

Launched in 2019, the Washboard Sessions have generated tens of millions of views and have given Uncle Maximilien and his guests international exposure. To date, more than 100 musicians have participated in the project and more than 140 sessions have been performed.

On social media, Uncle Maximilien has already collaborated with renowned pages such as Postmodern Jukebox, Coffe Music, official media outlets such as Le Blick, L'Illustré, Tataki, and RTS Culture, as well as festivals such as Cully Jazz and Antigel. Some sessions have also been reposted by celebrities such as Doechii, SZA, Amber Mark, Christophe Maé, Michael B. Jordan, Gad Elmaleh, and others.
