November is National Novel Writing Month! Usually, the goal is to write an entire 50,000 word novel within the span of these 30 days. With the many things going on in life currently, I decided that I would take a different approach to this challenge. I am writing a story that focuses on things I can improve or don't normally write. Even though I am working on a story, and may some day turn it into a book if it comes out alright, I am not pushing myself to get 50,000 words in one month. I'm just going to write and see what happens!
What I'll be working on is a horror/mystery story with the style in 3rd person limited. I know it's already the 14th of November so I'm late in making this post but did start the actual work on the 1st. Below is a summary of what I'm working on this month, and can't wait to share updates with you! Let me know what you think of the idea!
Grey Isley is just breaking into the interior design business, though as a new designer with little to no experience in the field, it's hard to find someone that will hire her. After placing an ad on various community boards, she gets a call from someone looking for a designer to flip an inherited mansion. He warns Grey that it's a challenge many designers have turned down and he is willing to pay top dollar if she decides to do it.
Grey jumps at the chance to spark her career, but once she sees the house, it's entirely possible the task is beyond her skill set. She's determined to make it work and accepts the job. Though as construction starts, mysterious things are happening throughout the house. Workers get hurt during shifts, terrifying discoveries are made within the walls, and there's a chill that constantly puts Grey on edge. As determined as Grey is to finish this near-impossible to flip house, is it worth the life of her hired team, let alone her own life?
