Hello friends! ๐ปโจ
During my stay in the Czech Republic ๐ฐ, I decided to treat myself to some new tools to help me on my Ukrainian language journey. Here's what I got:
a children's drawing tablet ๐ฑ,
a cardboard tablet with two great pencils ๐,
a bilingual book of Czech stories ๐ written in both Czech and Ukrainian with an mp3 for practicing my Ukrainian listening skills ๐ง.
I've been having so much fun practicing what I've learned. Check out how I'm using ัะต (this is) to make sentences:
ัะต ะผะฐัะธ. (This is a mother.) โ๏ธ
ัะต ะผะฐัะธ? (Is this a mother?) โ๏ธ
ัะต ะบัั. (This is a cat.) โ๏ธ
ัะต ะบัั? (Is this a cat?) โ๏ธ
ัะต ะดัะผ. (This is a home.) โ๏ธ
ัะต ะดัะผ? (Is this a home?) โ๏ธ
ัะต ะดัะด. (This is a grandfather.) โ๏ธ
ัะต ะดัะด? (Is this a grandfather?) โ๏ธ
Did you notice that the positive and question statements look the same? The only thing that sets them apart is the final punctuation mark. But wait, there's more! The punctuation mark also changes how we say the sentence.
Statements with a period have a falling intonation โ๏ธ, while questions with a question mark have a rising intonation โ๏ธ. Isn't that fascinating? ๐
To practice using the word ัะต with the vocabulary of family members, I prepared a worksheet just for you! You can get it for FREE from my shop: https://buymeacoffee.com/ukrainian_diary/e/262329
Stay tuned for more updates from my Ukrainian diary! ๐
See you soon! ๐ป๐ซ
