Bubblegum

When film merchandise was once a rarity and video rental had yet to arrive, 'bubblegum cards' were portals into the worlds that captured young imaginations. I remember tearing open the wax packets to study each image obsessively, the cards themselves coated with the smell of bubblegum. The original blue border Star Wars set was one of my first memories of collecting, and so I have recently been adding them to drawings, using them directly and as reference. They have the power to transport me back through time!
