So this is a fun story....
I had already committed to doing the Wicklow Way in Ireland for May of 2026 but then my eldest sister informed me that the "Cousin Doo" (an annual gathering of our mother's generation of cousins from the UK, Canada and the US) was expanding to allow the next generation. And the location of this year's gathering? A wee little village called Newtonmore in Scotland.
Now, out of fun, my response was "Well, wouldn't it be funny if there was a trail that ended in Newtonmore and I hiked-in to the reunion?"
Ladies and gentlemen, fellow adventurers, I give you the Speyside Way.
Starting in Buckie, on Scotland's North shore, the Speyside Way travels 10 KMs along the shoreline before making a hard left inland and roughly follows the River Spey until Newtonmore, a total of 145 KMs from end to end.
