I’m Aaron Vinod John — born in Kerala, India, raised in Kuwait, and then moved to New Zealand. At 16, I became the world’s youngest Indian to live on a sailboat, calling my Farr Platu 25, SV Trashman, home.

After 6 months of hardcore sailing and minimalist living, I bought a 37ft wooden yacht — only to discover it was full of hidden defects. Returned it, lost my money, and now I’m building my own dinghy from scratch.

My plan? Explore New Zealand by sea, crew on other boats, start airline pilot training next year, and eventually buy another sailboat to circumnavigate the globe — and even design my own after that as a naval architect to go to extreme latitudes.
