I am a musician. I do other things and am grateful to play other roles, from husband and father to founder and strategist. But in terms of vocational identity, I have to come clean and call myself a musician.
Best known as the keyboardist and backing vocalist for Bad Astronaut (Fat Wreck Chords) and a session player for Lagwagon, The Ataris, Joey Cape & Tony Sly, Jon Snodgrass, and others, I have also received critical acclaim as a film and television composer. But I am now forging ahead on a new path as a solo artist, with new singles streaming ahead of a full album release in the coming weeks.
For my debut solo project, I'm joined by longtime friends and collaborators Tim Cullen (Summercamp) and Thom Flowers (Bad Astronaut, The Blues and Greys) on guitar, along with drummers Kye Smith and Austin Beede. Special guests include his son Aden Capps (Billy Tibbals Band), "Skabone" Stan Middleton (The Toasters), and Sky High The Mau Mau (Ziggy Marley, Burning Spear).
It is somewhat surreal to head out into this fairly new wilderness on my own at this stage, and without the backing of a label for this project. But I am deeply humbled by the encouragement of friends, family, and fans of my previous work. It is with this humility, mixed with excitement and commitment, that I extend my profound gratitude for your support, which not only helps offset recording and marketing expenses, but provides very meaningful "coffee"-jolts of encouragement!
With gratitude,
Todd
