Growing up in Australia, society there taught me to love America's modern culture (McDonalds, Coca Cola, Hollywood...) but to "hate" America and to look down on the American people as "arrogant" and "selfish". This was a narrative shared in other countries too. It made me uncomfortable. Could it be true? I wondered. I wanted to see it for myself.

Since I moved to New York in 2010, I've met so many Americans. I've traveled through half the country and talked to people on the ground -- from coal miners to congressmen -- and I have been truly touched by how warm and kind-hearted the American people are. Seriously. The love and sincerity among regular American people is truly awesome and inspiring. But the saddest part of my discoveries was that the same negative narrative has also been pushed into America. And worst of all many Americans have started believing it about themselves. 

I created the "Today With Kay" show so you can get daily news from someone who truly cares about them. Every day I read and listen to countless news stories from different perspectives (I'm a really fast reader). I always search for primary sources instead of just repeating other people's opinions. I always prioritize real people with real experience over "experts" with opinions and no skin in the game. And then at 5pm ET, I present what I find to you, dear friends. This is a true news service.

No one tells me what I can or can't say (although on some platforms I have to be careful with my word choices to avoid censorship - but you can watch my uncensored episodes on uncensored platforms).

I really do know the dangers of speaking out these days, because I've been imprisoned for it. In 2001, I've was arrested and thrown into a basement prison cell in China simply for holding the word "Compassion" on Tiananmen Square in an appeal for human rights. So I know the dangers, but I've learned that when facing oppression, the louder you are, the safer you are.

I've also interviewed over a hundred of survivors from communist regimes, including dozens of former officials of the Chinese Communist Party. Their stories are shocking but also amazingly inspiring and they give me courage to keep going even at the hardest of times.
