Hi, I’m Brandon Gates—a journalist, screenwriter, and director based in Brooklyn. After years of working in news and comedy writing, I wrote Today We Almost Died during the height of the pandemic as a way to process the chaos, grief, and strange beauty of that time. This project is deeply personal. It’s a fictional narrative podcast rooted in real experiences, about four roommates trying to survive 2020 in one small apartment, while the world outside crumbles. With your help, we can bring the full season to life and create something healing, funny, and raw.
