If you live in Poland or are planning to move here, the paper era of immigration is officially ending. The Ministry has launched the MOS 2.0 (Case Handling Module), and it changes everything from how you apply to how you prove your legal stay.
The MOS 2.0 Revolution 💻
As of April 27, 2026, applications for temporary residence, permanent residence, and EU long-term permits must be submitted exclusively online via the MOS portal.
No More Paper: Physical forms will no longer be accepted for most cases.
Digital Signature Required: You must have a Profil Zaufany (Trusted Profile) or an e-signature to sign and submit your application.
Employer Integration: For work permits, your employer will receive a unique link to sign Annex 1 electronically. No more mailing physical documents back and forth!
2. The Death of the Passport Stamp 🚫📖For years, the stamp in the passport was the holy grail of proving your stay while waiting for a card. That is being phased out.
Digital Confirmation: Instead of a physical stamp, the MOS 2.0 system generates a digital confirmation of submission with a unique QR code.
Legality at Your Fingertips: You can print this confirmation or keep it on your phone. It serves as your official proof of legal residence during the in-between period.3.
3. Language Updates: B1 Polish Certificate 🎓The requirements for the EU Long-Term Residence Permit still hinge on the B1 Polish language requirement, but the process is becoming more structured:New Exam Sessions: 2026 state exams are scheduled for June, October, and December.Official Certificates Only: Poland is tightening the proof of language. While some university degrees (taught in Polish) still count, the State Certificate (Certyfikat Polski) remains the gold standard.
Tip: Spots for these exams fill up months in advance. If you’re eyeing a long-term permit in late 2026, register for the June or October sessions now!
4. Important Deadlines ⚠️April 17, 2026: The old MOS portal was disabled.April 27, 2026: The new MOS 2.0 went live for all new applications.Ukrainian Citizens: A new CUKR residence card system has been introduced, allowing those with UKR status to transition to a 3-year temporary residence permit under simplified conditions.
Final Thought: This shift is designed to cut waiting times (target: 45 days for some permits!), but the first few weeks might have technical glitches. Don’t wait until the last day of your visa to log in!
