Kaleb was born with Sickle Cell disease. A blood disorder that causes red blood cells to contort into a sickle shape. The cells die early, leaving a short amount of healthy red blood cells (sickle cell anemia), this blocks blood flow and causes serious health problems during what we call a sickle cell crisis. Kaleb was a healthy boy although he had the condition, with few episodes for most of his life. Last year these episodes became increasingly frequent and scary to the point that it seemed he wouldn’t make it. More recently his condition has become so life debilitating that I have stopped everything I’m working on entirely to focus on him and his health. I’ve had to downsize our home situation as well, practically live out of the hospital and hotel’s due to traveling to different Doctors and at times rely on friends for a place to stay in locations where there is a promising solution for treating the illness. Needless to say this is bigger than I anticipated and I now need help. I’m reaching out to the community for resources and leads to help find answers and at best a cure. These funds surely aren’t about coffee, but rather to help us further our mission to heal and cure kaleb.
