(Days 3-5) Application - Pixelmon Datapack Creator

Oct 16, 2023

After a small break, development is once again under way. I've worked on three things, two of which are integral to the functions of the program.

Firstly, I did a little work on the ability to resize the window. It's a small QOL feature but is certainly a nice feature and ultimately didn't take much time. I also was traveling, so taking a look at something simple like this didn't waste any development time. Here's a little preview of the resizing functionality (with teaser for the next 2 points as well):

Next, I worked on some fun functionality that I've been wanting. That nice little Validate button in the top right. When clicked, it goes over all of the Pokemon (eventually moves, spawn files, and drops as well) and validates that they have the correct information set. This allows users who have a pre-made datapack able to diagnose potential issues with it without clicking through every file in order to do so. When Validate is clicked, it generates a list of issues - when an issue is clicked, it will take you right to where that data is found in the application! Here's a little demo:

(Fun fact, I found inconsistencies in convention in Pixelmon data doing this. For example, Galarian Zigzagoon is the only Pokemon to have an 'evolution to' line in this form: "Linoone f:galarian". All other Pokemon would be in the format: "Linoone form:galarian")

Lastly, I worked through editing moves and abilities for Pokemon. Currently, you can edit level-up moves, abilities, and hidden abilities - to come is TMs, Transfer Moves, Egg moves, HMs, etc. Here is what that looks like:

As always, thanks for checking out the project. More updates to come in time - check out the GitHub for intended features!
