Sermon “Blessing Without Repentance”
A Question God Refuses to Answer
Delivered: January 4, 2026 · Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/7gPo5CpTaQQ
1) The Word Behind the Work
We ask God to bless our plans like we ask a firefighter to admire a burning house. Love says, “Let’s put this out, then rebuild together.” Scripture refuses the equation of blessing without repentance because blessing is not a sticker; it’s a stream that flows from the throne of Jesus. When Paul calls us to abstain from porneia and honor the marriage bed (1 Thess. 4; Heb. 13:4), he’s not reducing joy; he’s protecting it. The cross is not a romance‑killer—it’s romance‑resurrector. In a cross‑shaped home, husbands become first repenters and first servants; wives become fearless truth‑tellers and honored partners. Zacchaeus teaches us the speed of grace: come down fast, change direction quickly, and watch refreshment arrive. Friend, if you’re asking God to bless what He forbids, hear His kindness: “I bless what I rule. Let Me reign, and I’ll restore.”
2) The Practical Build
Audit your seeds (Gal. 6). What are you sowing in screens, speech, and schedule? Draft a purity plan (access cutoffs + accountability + confession rhythm). Couples: install the daily triad—prayer, apology, service. Singles: join a triad for holiness and hope. Map your next steps: Freedom & Purity Group, Marriage Care, Counseling. Put dates on the calendar and tell someone. The altar is not theory—it’s a table, a phone call, a canceled subscription, a courageous conversation.
