Thanks to a lot of kind people helping out, not only on this page but indirectly sending funds for people who need help on and off, we managed to help a lot of households with food, give out blankets and winter clothing and get 2-3 weddings done for girls who either did not have parents or where the parents were so poor, they couldn't afford to get their daughters married.
In Feb, there was a wedding of a girl who had been rejected from many places due to not having enough money to 'meet the demands'. They finally had a good proposal come in where the boy didn't want any items from the girl but did want the 1.5k people he was bringing to enjoy a grand feast when they came to the girl's house for the wedding. The girl's elder sister was in tears, unable to meet that one requirement. My family and I got together with another family and we all donated enough money and clothes for her to host a feast for the people coming and to have a good wedding.
The elder sister came to our house the next day, this time in tears of joy at how well everything went, bringing with her some of the wedding food for us to taste.
Alhamdulillah, what beautiful things people can achieve when we get together and try to help others.
Hopefully, we can keep on doing this for people who are in need. it's small scale, but it's something we can all work towards little by little.
