Possible Leak — Rakuten to Bilt Transfers Coming Soon?

Something big might be brewing between Rakuten and Bilt.
For a brief moment, Rakuten’s site accidentally listed Bilt Rewards as an option for how users could receive their cashback — alongside PayPal, “Big Fat Check,” and Amex Membership Rewards. 👀
That line was quickly taken down, but not before people grabbed screenshots and spread the word across Reddit and major travel blogs like Frequent Miler, Doctor of Credit, and Upgraded Points.
The leaked text suggested users might soon be able to “have your Cash Back sent as Bilt Points if you’re a Bilt Rewards member,” with points paid out quarterly — just like Amex MR redemptions today.
💬 What People Are Saying
Reddit and points forums are buzzing — people are calling it a potential “game changer” for those who prefer travel points over cash.
Frequent Miler speculated this could mean a 1:1 cash-to-Bilt conversion, which would make Bilt a true rival to Amex’s partnership with Rakuten.
Others wonder if this will be limited to Bilt cardholders or open to all Bilt Rewards members.
✈️ My Take
If this becomes real, I think it’s fantastic news.
Rakuten points would instantly become more versatile — and that’s what keeps rewards ecosystems healthy and valuable.
It would also make it easier to diversify your point collection — instead of funneling everything into Amex or cash, you might split your rewards strategy: some as Amex MR, some as Bilt.
This could be a huge win for anyone who loves building flexible travel portfolios, especially given Bilt’s strong transfer partners (Hyatt, Alaska, and more).
