Amex Platinum Refresh: Teaser Out, Redesign Confirmed, More Possible Credits, Changes Kick Off Sept. 18
We’ve talked about the Amex Platinum rumors before — but this week, Amex officially dropped a teaser. The card redesign is confirmed, and the changes are set to go live on September 18, 2025.
✅ Confirmed So Far

⚠ Rumored Additions — Resy, Lululemon & More
These new lifestyle credits could replace or shrink existing ones like Saks, Uber, or Equinox.
🔮 What to Watch For
Which credits get cut: Do Uber, Saks, or Equinox survive the refresh?
Ease of use: Resy coverage in your city, and whether Lululemon credits work online & in-store without restrictions.
Annual fee vs. value: At ~$895, the payoff depends on using these new credits consistently.
Sign-on bonus: Expect Amex to adjust or boost the welcome offer when the refreshed card launches.
Transition rules: Will current cardholders get both old and new perks, or move straight into the new structure?
💡 My Take
For those who don’t yet have the Platinum: if you care about the annual fee, sign up before next week to lock in the current fee for a year.
If you can wait: it may be worth holding out for a possible higher sign-on bonus, similar to what happened with the CSR refresh.
Even if only half the rumors come true, this new card looks very strong.
Personally, I’ll have my wife get the Platinum, since I already hold both the personal and business versions — this refresh makes it worthwhile to add another household member.
I was actually planning on cancelling my Platinum, but if these benefits are true, I’ll probably keep this card for a long time.
