Resolve Media Relinker is designed for DaVinci Resolve users who have accumulated projects over the years and later moved their source media to different drives, folders, archives, or backup locations.
A video explaining this utility can be found here:
As video collections grow, storage limits often force us to reorganize media. A project that originally used files from D:\Video, for example, may later have those same files stored on another drive or inside a larger archive. When an older Resolve project is opened again, much of its media may appear Offline, leaving you to manually hunt through folders and relink files one at a time.
Resolve Media Relinker can turn a task that might otherwise take days or even weeks into a largely automatic process. In a setting where projects number in the hundreds or thousands, manually locating and relinking each media file in those projects can become so time-consuming that it may be unrealistic to consider doing it manually.
With Resolve Media Relinker you simply create reusable rules telling the application where your media used to be located and where it is located now. The program then examines the offline media in the currently open Resolve project, preserves the original folder hierarchy, calculates the likely new location, and verifies that the actual file exists before asking Resolve to relink it.
If a file is not found using one rule, the application simply tries the next. Once it finds a valid match, it stops searching for that clip and moves on to the next media file.
This can be especially valuable for editors with hundreds or even thousands of older Resolve projects, where years of drive upgrades, storage expansion, archiving, and file reorganization have left projects pointing to locations that no longer exist. Being able to reliably reopen and restore those older projects can also make it much easier to reuse valuable footage, graphics, audio, and other media from past work in new projects, rather than leaving that material effectively stranded inside projects that are difficult to reconstruct.
The product is also easy to install and comes with a comprehensive, clearly written User Manual that explains setup, rule creation, folder hierarchy, rule order, dry-run testing, and troubleshooting.
Instead of repeatedly searching for the same moved media every time you reopen an old project, you can build a permanent library of relinking rules and let Resolve Media Relinker do the repetitive work for you.
Less hunting. Less manual relinking. More time editing.
