(3 types of mint shown, Peppermint , Mojito & Apple Mint)
Faye and I had to go to P-Town (Penticton) today to do laundry, run a few errands (such as take our recycling in) and gather staples (groceries).
(I take my water/sparkling water/dairy containers to the recycling sea can in Penticton twice a month)
(I was not the only one shopping for Staples today. I took Faye to her favorite Boutique, Pet Smart)
I am not a city gal, and although Penticton is small, I can’t wait to get back to the serenity of Gallagher Lake and my wee home.
By the time I put away the laundry, staples and fed Faye, it was 2:30, and I realized I hadn’t eaten, nor drank anything but an early morning coffee.
I gathered some fresh Apple Mint leaves from the Tea Garden, and Radishes. Both have thrived with the cool, wet spring. I have never grown radishes so large that are still firm and juicy. Quite often they will be dry, woody or split, as they get large.
(Apple Mint. I personally find Mint Tea is excellent for my stomach. I’ve had issues since I was a child and I have not found another natural aid as good as Mint Tea to help pacify bowel troubles. I also think for me it’s a mood lifter, and energizer. There are many benefits attributed to mint tea, but these are the ways I use it. Plus it tastes great!! Quite often I add thinly sliced ginger to my mint blend as it steeps, in the winter)
(I bruise the mint lightly, and tear in half before placing in the steeping bowl)
(I just wanted to be outside and decompress from the hustle of the first part of the day)
(I own 2 outdoor chairs, and of course one is Faye’s. Hers appears to be softer than mine 🫢🤣)
(Faye just wants to be included. It’s important to me that she and I work as a “pack”. )
(You can see one of the “grand pappie” Radishes on this bunch)
(Even tho it’s huge, still so juicy and firm. Great flavor with a slight bite. Accented with a touch of salt. Radishes are credited with helping lower blood sugar levels & provide antioxidants that are believed to help protect against cancer and prevent inflammation. Radishes are also an excellent source of magnesium, potassium, and vitamin C.)
(Radishes are safe for dogs in small amounts, and Faye was interested)
(. . . And it was a SOLID NO to Radishes from the girl 😒)
And with that, my late lunch was ready.
Now, I know this post may seem pretty mundane entry compared to many content creators pages. However, this is my life and it is a real life, one that I feel is well lived. ✌🏻
From my Tea Garden,
enjoy ☕️🐾
