The only place to begin is with gratitude: Trystin and I send our deepest thanks to everyone who supported our Greenhouse Project and Work Party Weekend – the Greenhouse is walled and roofed and almost done!
This week Trystin and I will put on the finishing touches, and there is no way we would be at this stage without our community showing up to build this together.
Over the course of the three days (and one foundation prep day) 15 of our friends showed up to organize lumber, prep and install windows, raise walls and roof assemblies, bolt in benches, and so much more.
The Greenhouse comprises 363 pieces of lumber, 331 accessory elements, and 1,427 pieces of hardware – that’s 3,351 individual items to assemble, and an incredible feat of teamwork and cooperation.
While the outcome is impressive, what inspires us most, and means so much, is that our community gathered to offer their time and skills to build this greenhouse together with kindness, dedication, and generosity.
And we really had a lot of fun catching up on breaks, sharing some meals, and of course working together in the sun and shade and even in the “hot box” - what some of us called the Greenhouse once walls were up and the heat reached near record temps on Sunday. Friends, your hard work and great spirits are such a blessing!
Many have also supported this project by providing financial support, helpful ideas, and meals and refreshment as we prepared for the build. This truly is a community endeavor and the food and medicine we grow in the Greenhouse will be shared in gratitude.
I hope you all enjoy this selection of photos from the weekend (remember to click on the lead image, and then use the arrows to explore the gallery, so you can view each image in full), you’ll see photos of the completed Greenhouse in a future update. We look forward to welcoming you to this special place soon!
In the meantime, stay up to date on this project and these 6 acres by connecting with us on Instagram and BlueSky - or by exploring our vision for these 6 acres.
Once again, our sincere thanks to everyone who supported this project, right on site or from far away; showing up for one another for exciting projects and through turbulent times is so important, and so powerful.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.
