There is no shortage of incredible women and non-binary people making loud, inventive, powerful music. The problem is visibility, access, and connection. Too often those artists exist in pockets, or are spoken about as exceptions rather than being central to the scene itself.

We’re building Scratch Scene to change that, in a practical way rather than just a conceptual one.

At its core, Scratch Scene is a platform for showcasing, celebrating and connecting women and non-binary people in heavy music in Glasgow, across Scotland, and beyond. It exists through a quarterly zine, a quarterly live showcase called Grrrl’s Night, a website with blogs, reviews and useful writing, a WhatsApp community, and a growing directory of artists and resources.
