As a fiction writer, I also have to read many fiction books. It's one of the best practices that you can establish for yourself as a writer. And through the years, I've gathered a few favorites. So here is my top 10 favorite fiction books of all time:
The Red House Mystery by A.A. Milne
I first read this when I was in 11th grade as an assignment for my mystery creative writing course. It was my favorite out of all the required reading. I love how the author introduced the detective. It was like magic coming off the page!
Secrets In The Mist Series by Morgan L. Busse
Honestly, I adored this duology. I read book one in one day, and I read book two in one day. Absolutely loved the steam punk vibes and the zombies. Interesting dystopian world. It was so fun!
The All American by Susie Finkbeiner
I don't usually read historical fiction but this book was awesome! I only read it because the cover was my favorite color: red, but I'm so glad I picked it up when I did. It was such a good read.
Drafted Series by Tommie Michele
This duology had great themes of hope and overcoming inner scars. I loved the Green Arrow vibes within a dystopian setting. It was really great!
The Nightmare Virus by Nadine Brandes
I loved this book. Honestly, it kind of reminded me A LOT of Champion's Escape. The tension between the real world and the dream scape was really cool. Also a dystopian novel️ ✨.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Yeah, everyone knows this story lol. It's one of the stories that got me into dystopian stories. I watched the movies first, then read the books. I loved them both.
On Wings Of Ash & Dust Series by Brittany Wang
I didn't expect to love this series as much as I did. I read it because I had seen the author's posts about it. So when it was finally free on Kindle Unlimited, I jumped on it. Definitely Tinker Bell Pirate Fairy vibes. I absolutely loved it.
The Chaos Grid by Lyndsey Lewellen
I bought this when it first came out, and I loved it. So glad I stumbled upon this story and Lyndsey Lewellen's work when I did. Texas dystopia. Yes, it's as awesome as it sounds. Just bought the sequel, and I'm sure it will be just as great.
The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Yeah, everyone knows this story too. This is also what got me into dystopian. And again, I watched the movies first, then read the books. And this book is so high up because it came into my life exactly when I needed it. (But that's a story for another post.) This will always be my number 2 favorite.
Blur Trilogy by Steven James
This is my number one! But why is it at the top? It's a mystery, it's the right amount of scary, and the vibes are immaculate. I read it in my senior year of high school and this is the one book I wish I could read for the first time all over again. Just so I could fall for it all over again. It will always be amazing.
Have you read any of these? What are your favorite fiction books?
Until next time💛
