Hello! If you follow me on Facebook or YouTube OR visit the Realm Drifters Discord ('tis be the only Discord I visit right now), you know we've taken in a stray a couple months ago. She is still learning how to dog π but she is doing SO well. I'll share some pics of her here. Here is Dottie π
She does have heartworms and I will get more info as to when she will start the treatment, soon. Heartworms are deadly if left untreated. And treatment can actually be deadly itself! Dogs MUST remain in a crate during treatment. Why? Because as the worms die off, they could end up blocking the arteries.
So: no playing, no running, can't even take her on long walks π’ I hate it, but I know it's for the best. Two months crated. Awful, I know. But she will have her time out of the crate, for walks on a leash and to cuddle. I'll sleep in her crate if I have to, so she doesn't get lonely. She's pretty big, though, she probably wouldn't wanna have me sleep with her, haha. And we do have 3 others dogs that can be ... Difficult. So, we are still trying to introduce them in a manner that suits THEM. There is no rushing this stuff. But I will update you once we get more information π
