Hi! I’m Nicole, an accidental full-time chef and carer to 3 rescue cats, wild/stray cats, 6 current visiting foxes, one remaining hedgehog and countless native Irish birds. I live in rural Ireland, where the little plot of land I live on has become a safe space for a wide variety of creatures. It all started with one plate of food being left out overnight for hedgehogs … and now, if you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen what it’s become!

Caring for these beautiful animals is a full-time role and it’s expensive. Just feeding everyone costs €342 a month, nearly 30% of my income, this doesn't include the many extras involved!

My policy is simple: no creature is ever turned away if they are hungry or need help. Yes, even mice and rats are welcome to grab a snack and take shelter in our garden or even our attic space when needed.

Because of several chronic health conditions, I don’t leave home often (at all, really), and my days are devoted entirely to feeding and caring for all these creatures, letting them know that someone out here cares for them and they have someone they can rely on and come to for help, if needed.

But I can't do it alone.
