Brancepeth Homestead, Homewood, and Otahome Beach

Sep 13, 2026

My latest ride video is now live, taking in some of the finest backcountry roads and historic stops in the lower North Island.

This trip kicks off with a visit to Brancepeth Homestead. A massive thank you to Edward Beetham for taking the time to show me around the grounds and outbuildings. The history here is remarkable, having been in his family since the 1850s (you might have caught it on Country Calendar recently).

From Brancepeth, I headed over to Homewood Farm to check out their historic storeroom and cozy accommodation options. Even though the cafe was closed for the winter season, Andy kindly gave me a look around the property. As a bonus, it is also home to Lucid Chocolatier, who make world-class artisan chocolate right there on-site.

The second half of the day pushed out toward Otahome Beach, wrapping up with some of the most scenic and rewarding gravel riding I've done in recent months.

You can watch the full video on the channel now:

Thanks as always for supporting the channel and helping keep the Tiger fueled up for these backcountry runs.
