Hi, I’m Ben — a longtime Oregonian, independent writer, grassroots troublemaker, and occasional digital relic who cut his teeth building TheMUD.com back in the late 1990s before selling the domain and moving on to bigger fights.
What started years ago as a creative outlet for photography and commentary has turned into something much bigger: a plainspoken, unapologetic effort to call out government gone wrong, defend local accountability, and speak up for the land, liberty, and everyday people of Oregon.
You’ll find most of my writing at Ben’s Viewpoint on Substack, where I cut through the noise with sharp, fact-driven commentary on Oregon politics, local government, taxes, regulations, civic engagement, and the ongoing fight to keep our Republic from being managed into the ditch by people who think every problem requires another fee, tax, permit, program, or public-relations slogan.
The latest effort is simple:
Not Tina Kotek 2026.
Because Oregon can’t afford four more years of Tina.
This started as satire, because sometimes Oregon politics gets so absurd that mockery becomes a public service. But the message hit a nerve because it is clear, memorable, and brutally honest. The Republican primary is over. Oregon voters have a nominee. Now it is time to unite, grow the coalition, reach non-affiliated voters, and remind frustrated Oregonians that the choice in November does not have to be complicated.
So I am launching a small startup fund to print the first run of Not Tina Kotek yard signs, bumper stickers, and campaign merch.
For every $25 gift to this startup fund, I will order and ship you TWO Not Tina Kotek yard signs with H-frames, while supplies last. I need to place a minimum order of about 50 signs, so this first round is limited to the first 25 supporters.
If we do not raise enough to make the minimum order work, I will give supporters the option of receiving a refund, less any credit card processing fees, or redirecting the gift to a political action campaign of their choice.
This is grassroots, independent, and a little mischievous, which frankly is how Oregon politics could use a lot more of its civic engagement.
