What We Want

What We Want

Feb 01, 2025

imageWe all found ourselves between 5 and 7am, legs crossed on the mat waiting to be saved from discontent and maybe even sorrow. It didn’t feel like a programming but each YouTube video and podcast was suggesting that. Some of us nailed it and followed the meditation rules to the T. Some of us could never get it right.

No matter where you found yourself, one thing was for sure. It didn’t quite scratch the itch we were all feeling. We thought we wanted relief or peace. Humans aren’t satisfied by that. They want more.

We wanted truth.

The truth didn’t have to be coated with honey. We wanted it raw and real.

As a discerning life coach I sensed this earlier. I didn’t know how to get others to the truth about the world (I still don’t) but I knew one thing.

I knew how to lead them to their personal truth. I patiently waited for my clients to realise what they say is the issue, isn’t the real issue. This of course got them mad at me for not promising them quick results. Now many of them can see why.

We were always hungry for clarity. Truth.

If you’ve been to therapy you’ve been told that many of your problems are because of the environment we grew up in. Partly true. As children we didn’t crave perfect homes. We honestly didn’t care if our parents were rich or poor. We just wanted them to be real with us. We wanted honesty.

Even in relationships now, we are less concerned about the act and more interested in how honest our partner was with us.

It’s that honesty we crave internally. We want our minds to stop suppressing emotions in the name of protecting us. We want our bodies to be honest about what we’ve been through.

We want open communication between mind, body and spirit. Even if they don’t agree, let them be honest with each other.

We want a God that doesn’t lie to us and make false promises. We want a religion that’s not taking us for a ride. We want tech companies to stop providing more distractions from our own truths. We hope. Oh dear we hold on to that hope, we hope the government is honest with its people.

Just truth.

I’m still on this journey.

It’s not milk and honey I’m after (although if that’s on the table too, I ain’t saying no). I’m not after milk and honey. I don’t want peace.

I want truth.

Truth is a craving of the matured ones. An acquired taste even. Truth is usually not wrapped in fancy paper and scented. It comes as is. I’m learning to love that, like I did with blue cheese.

What we learned from the US past election is: manifesting a desire isn’t where it’s at. What the country craved is truth. Where is America at this point? What are the people’s true thoughts about important issues? Manifesting Kamala would have been a lie. It would have been great for democrats but a lie nonetheless. Now everyone can spend the next four years swimming in truth of what their country is facing.

.. for some that truth is so bitter but I can assure you it tastes much better than the lie and it’s also medicinal ..

The answers aren’t on the yoga mat, church, the bar, the gym, the crystal, the green smoothie, the reels .. the answers you’re looking for aren’t there. You’re not searching for inner peace. You’re aren’t even searching for joy. It’s your truth you’re after.

May you discover your truth in 2025.
