The results have actually been in for several weeks. As expected, I did not get accepted into the ECQ professional training program. However, I am happy to report that I was accepted into the Aloft professional training program!
I found out the good news around the beginning of April but didn’t make my decision to accept their offer until today (29 April 24). A lot of different factors floated around in my head these past few weeks and I’m grateful I’ve had a sounding board between a handful of people (Randi and Kelsey caught the majority of it but shout out to everyone who read my powerpoint and huge thank you to Katarina for answering all my Qs).
I'm so excited to be taking this next step in my training. Every time I see a post for casting for shows or contracts I’m giddy knowing I’ll be applying to those things this time next year. I could be applying to them right now as well, but I just don’t feel up to snuff and by this time next year I’ll (hopefully) have grown leaps and bounds and will feel confident in applying to contracts with bigger companies. I’m most looking forward to trying so many more disciplines in the upcoming months; I've already begun my list of potential rec. classes to take that’ll be included in my tuition and made a list of goals for different areas of focus. It’s such a relief knowing that most of my training for 9 months will be planned out for me so I can just show up and do the work! It’s been so exhausting having to plan training around studio schedules, lesson planning, working the day job, private lessons, teaching and DRIVING. I do so much driving omg I’m so tired of being in my car, driving all over Cincinnati and the tristate to take different classes and lessons.
I am mildly stressed about probably having to find a new job but I have a healthy enough savings account (and a supportive partner <3) that I’m not overly worried about it yet. I’m hoping my current company will be able to move me to a remote/part time position, but I am doubtful because they’ve been having layoffs so I do not think it’ll be in the cards for me. For those reading who may not know, I work as a lab analyst for a pharmaceutical company so my job is very hands on and not really possible to do from home. I am still taking note of any remote jobs I see that don’t require a specific bachelors degree and will probably reach out to a recruiter to look for part time chemistry related jobs in Chicago. If anyone has any leads let me know please!
With all that being said, if anyone wants any private lessons PLEASE hit me up would love to teach some lessons this summer on Rigbee to help fund my tuition and living expenses. We haven’t set exact dates for moving yet but I am trying to work the day job for as long as possible so I’m assuming the move will happen mid- to late August and my program starts September 3rd.
Side note: Rigbee will continue living with Madame Mira so don’t hesitate to book Queen Bee Cabaret for your aerial entertainment! And Cincinnati is close enough to Chicago that I will be back for gigs and shows somewhat often!
