I have been caring for cats on the island of Syros since 2017. Currently, I feed a colony of 40-50 cats around my house, many left anonymously here by people who cannot care for them. In other parts of the island, I care for about 20 others. As well as food, I trap them and take them to local vets for neutering and vet care, and I find homes for those who cannot thrive in a colony. Up to 2026, I have funded these activities on my own, taking responsibility for my choice to look after these animals, but I am no longer young and will soon be retiring. Many of those who enjoy seeing the photos and videos of the colony cats and my house cats have suggested I accept donations.
