À propos The DV Doula
empowering survivors of domestic violence
Thanks for visiting my page! My name is Joanna, and I'm The *DV Doula.
People in abusive relationships describe their experience as trapped in an endless cycle of abuse, apologies, and anxieties. I call myself as a "Doula" because I help educate and empower individuals to break these cycles for themselves and for future generations. It can be a painful, often dangerous, process, but I provide guidance and resources along the way toward a healthy future.
I believe every person radiates the Image of God and has immeasurable inherent worth and value.
As an attorney and certified domestic violence victim advocate, I share my clients' stories and empower them to share the truth of their experiences. As a deacon, conference speaker, and church consultant, I provide guidance to churches and spiritual leaders as they address domestic violence and abuse in their congregations.
* I will use the terms "DV," "Domestic Violence," and "Abuse" interchangeably. When I use these terms, I am describing a pattern of abuse between romantic partners, sexual partners, or close family members, unless otherwise specified.
