If motivation advice actually worked for ADHD, most of us wouldn’t still be stuck.
This week’s blog post is about something I see come up again and again:
wanting to do the thing, caring deeply… and still being unable to start.
Not because you’re lazy.
Not because you’re avoiding it.
Not because you “just need more discipline.”
Most motivation advice assumes stable energy, reliable dopamine, and consistent access to drive. ADHD brains don’t work that way — and when advice is built on the wrong assumptions, it quietly turns into shame.
In this post, I break down:
why starting is often the hardest part for ADHD brains
how dopamine and energy variability affect motivation
and what actually helps without pressure or force
If this has ever sounded like you — “I want to, but I can’t make myself start” — this one’s for you.
