Über Jay, the OG The Bad Activist
On August 4th, 2025, Joshua “Jay” Atlas, Elayna Mae Darcy, originally from Norristown, PA will join Cheltenham’s Sam (also PA), & San Antonio, Texan, Noah Brouse, representing The Bad Activist on a final transnational bicycling tour from Philadelphia, PA to Los Angeles, CA, with the expressed intent to educate, specifically youth/young adults, on the prevalence of depression in their communities and engage them in activism, and encourage them to begin their own projects while exploring what wellness looks like from on scene interviews, sit downs with mental health professionals, and explorations in varying forms of therapy & care.
Atlas previously walked across the US with brother, Shannon Sprowal, and bicycled 3 subsequent tours with teams consisting of Sylvester Williams, Nathaniel Erb, Timothy Sammartino, Jonathan Moore, and Gabriel Fenerty, speaking out against human trafficking, and speaking on community development, and mental health with individuals, groups, armed forces, and services as they traveled through cities and towns. The final iteration will include author Elayna Mae Darcy, DM Noah Brouse, and artist/adventurer Sam.
Currently working for Bio-One Philadelphia, Atlas still uplifts those affected by trauma; remediating blood, death, decomposition, hoarding, spills, infestations and outbreaks in the area.
“Activism isn’t a cure for depression, but there are decades of studies showing the benefits for your mental and physical wellbeing. I feel like a living testament to that. If there’s something to give a man with nothing, it’s purpose, ” said Jay Atlas, Chairperson for The Bad Activist.
About The Bad Activist
Having, historically, operated as a coventure in all iterations of efforts -both cross-country and locally, this final trek continues that tradition (initially as The Long Road to Freedom Project benefitting End It, and Worthwhile: GO benefitting Worthwhile Wear). The Bad Activist is the standalone identity that is structured with the purpose of meeting community needs.
Any earned income and donations are to be divided between The Bad Activist and several local, national, and international programs. With hopes of earning enough to create a much needed, and replicable community center.
For more information, visit www.thebadactivist.org. The Bad Activist is a 501(c) 3 non-profit. All gifts to the NPO are tax deductible and will help in the wellness and ongoing care of community needs, the most immediate being the welfare of youth.
Along the way, we'll certainly need coffee, or at the very least water, haha!
To contribute to the individuals taking part, this is the place to be!
