I’m Matt, an American living abroad in Bogotá, Colombia. Through The Americano, I create practical, honest, and entertaining videos about moving to Colombia, retiring abroad, living as an expat, navigating cultural differences, and building a life outside the United States.

My goal is to help people make better-informed decisions about living abroad... without the exaggerated promises, fearmongering, or postcard-perfect nonsense.

Creating four videos every week takes a surprising amount of research, writing, filming, editing, travel, caffeine, and occasionally explaining to Colombians why an American is talking to a camera in public.
