Blogging about tea, food, haiku, and our connection to the seasons
In 2022, I launched this page to support my work on The Culinary Saijiki, a blog and podcast I created to further my understanding of the way food could serve as a seasonal referent in haiku. In 2024, I decided it was time to wind down the regular content production. I had always envisioned The Culinary Saijiki as a print book, and I needed to focus on that. The project still needs your support! I'm anticipating self-publishing the final book, and your support will help cover that.
Also in 2024, I decided I wanted to taste 100 different Earl Grey teas and blog about the experience. This challenge is meant to complement my Tea Sommelier training, and provide insight into the different qualities of this famous blend . . . and hopefully launch my journey as a tea blender.
Along with that, I've begun posting tea pairing videos on YouTube and other platforms. The goal of this project is to show people how to make a small teatime ritual for themselves, often with things they have on-hand. While formal tea is a lovely experience, I want people to be able to find the pause that teatime creates at any time of day.
Finally, I am also the editor of Haiku Girl Summer, an online publication that runs June 1st-August 31st every year, and publishes haiku by women-identified haijin (including nonbinary and trans poets). I keep this as a free publication, but if you want to support the editorial efforts that go into this project, you can do so here!
Whether you're here for tea, food, poetry, or all of the above, thank you for supporting my work as a poet and future tea educator.
