Module 1 Units 5, 6 GCSE 2024 PEARSON EDEXCEL Spanish Resources

Lesson 1: Students will begin by mastering the conjugation of regular and irregular verbs in the preterit tense, including key spelling changes. They will learn to describe recent activities using time phrases, adjectives, and the concept of "ago" to justify their opinions. Listening exercises, translation tasks, and interactive quizzes will reinforce this knowledge, ensuring students can accurately describe past events in Spanish.

Lesson 2: This lesson consolidates vocabulary related to daily routines and past events while introducing the important distinction between the Spanish ‘l’ and ‘ll’ sounds. Students will engage in pronunciation exercises, verb identification tasks, and reading comprehension activities that focus on both present and past tenses. They will also practice translating sentences, preparing them for real-life communication and exam scenarios.

Lesson 3: Students will delve into the use of direct object pronouns in Spanish, learning to correctly place and agree them within sentences. They will read and translate texts about a disastrous day, reinforcing their understanding of both pronouns and negative structures. Through a combination of dictation, true/false exercises, and comprehension tasks, students will solidify their ability to handle complex sentences involving multiple grammatical elements.

Lesson 4: In the final lesson, students will apply their knowledge of the preterit tense to describe a disastrous day. They will practice both first and third person singular conjugations and expand their vocabulary with phrases specific to unfortunate events. The lesson includes phonics drills, translation exercises, and role-play activities, all designed to prepare students for high-stakes writing and speaking tasks in their exams.

Each lesson is carefully structured to build on previous knowledge, offering a range of retrieval practices, instructive content, and secure tasks that align with Edexcel mark schemes. This unit is ideal for students aiming to achieve fluency in the past tense and improve their overall Spanish language proficiency.

These resources closely follow the Pearson Edexcel scheme of work in terms of the overall topics and grammatical structures. However, they are designed to enhance what the textbook offers, which is why you may notice some differences. I’ve incorporated a broader range of activities, including exam-style tasks that align with the new exam format across all skills areas. So while most of the vocabulary may overlap with the book, you’ll also find additional vocabulary and tasks that aim to further support students' progress within the topics.

Due to copyright restrictions, I’ve avoided using the exact texts and audio from the Pearson book. The resources I’ve created are original, ensuring they respect the intellectual property of the authors while still complementing the textbook’s objectives. I’m confident these resources will offer extra depth and support to our students.
