On the topic of questionable decisions, I was talked into taking a PeaceHealth bike share on a 100-mile ride with August. The 27th annual Eugene GEARs Blackberry bRamble will be Sunday, August 30 starting at Alton Baker Park. There are routes for every rider at every pace with fully-supported options of 17, 40, 60, 75, and 100 miles. Each route ends in the park with a post-ride celebration of Yumm Bowls, pie and ice cream. Although I will be on a 50+ lb commuter tank of a bike (just think of all the Pop-Tarts I can fit in that basket), you can ride whatever you like! Click here to learn more and get signed up. The Pacific Coast, but faster
As the dust has settled and the saddle sores have subsided, I’m starting to scheme up my return to Blaine next summer to get another shot at the record. As grateful as I am for this year’s ride, it’s not the end of the story.
One thing I’d also love to do differently is use the ride to create an even bigger impact beyond the finish line. I’m exploring the possibility of partnering with a local nonprofit so that the challenge can help support a meaningful cause in our community while bringing more people along for the adventure.
