Hello there!

My name's Theo. I'm a journalist and an ex-human trafficking investigator.

I have grown increasingly concerned at the state of our democracies. It's clear now that they're under assault from a range of forces: autocrats in Russia, China, Iran and North Korea, techno-aristocrats, populist demagogues and religious fundamentalists.

In 'Dictators v Democrats' we track the ongoing battles globally to defend democracy, be they in the halls of power in the United States, the ballot box in Europe or the trenches of Ukraine.

In 'Why We Fight' I talk to those who claim to be defending democracy. We find out who they are, what drove them to take up the struggle, what their work is and crucially, why their idea of democracy is worth fighting for.

I believe democracy is vital. If you do as well, then join me and if able, support me on this journey. I would eternally grateful and, with your assistance, I will be able to shine an ever brighter light on those assaulting our freedoms and those defending them.

Remember: Democracy is Non-Negotiable.
