I was recently lucky enough to visit Tanayiku Nature Ecological Reserve in Chiayi's southern Alishan Township along with some people from Travel in Taiwan Magazine, and since I'd already made the journey down from Taipei, I decided to seize the opportunity to spend some more time knocking around Chiayi. (Pro tip: KM Hostel in Chiayi City is a super hostel.)
I have to say, if I were going to live outside of Taipei, Chiayi would hold a very strong pull. The city itself is small, but full enough, but more importantly, there is an endless amount of beautiful walking right on the doorstep.
It's going to take an awful long time for the details of any of the trails I walked to be polished into readable posts on the site, but for now, here are some photographic highlights.
