SAME COIN, DIFFERENT SIDES.

Whether Democrat or Republican, US foreign policy towards our region remains remarkably consistent: maintaining influence, sustaining conflicts and keeping our region trapped in cycles of war and instability.

This Egyptian-born American politician, recently elected, reminds me of some of the accounts I come across here in Britain that appear to be funded to promote a particular political narrative.

Their criticism is always directed at Iran and Assad. But where is the criticism of Western destruction across our region? Where is the scrutiny of Arab leaders and their policies?

They constantly remind us of Assad. But why don't they talk about Abdullah, or his father Hussein before him? Why don't they talk about Mohammed bin Zayed and the UAE's role in regional conflicts?

Why is the destruction of our region always presented through such a selective lens? Certainly not through a Palestinian lens. Why are some governments and leaders constantly scrutinised while others are conveniently left out?

If you genuinely care about the people of our region, then hold everyone accountable: Washington, London, Tehran, Damascus and the Arab capitals.

Our people deserve the whole truth, not selective outrage designed to serve foreign political agendas.
