About
Systematic Trade-Invest (STI) builds systematized rules-based trading models designed to outperform the market.

Performance Goals & Objectives
Each STI trading model aims to:

  • outperform the market over time.

  • outperform the market each year. Note: this goal is more difficult & unlikely to be successful 100% of the time, however STI expects each model to be successful at least most years & strives for a 100% yearly win rate.

  • outperform the market during both good years & bad.

  • produce positive returns (or at least minimize total yearly negative returns) during years when the market produces significant negative returns (e.g., 2008, 2022, etc).

NOTE: while trades for each model are executed weekly, performance goals DO NOT include outperformance (or achieving positive returns) on a weekly basis. Rather, STI timeframes for achieving outperformance objectives are AT LEAST x1 calendar year.

How does STI work?

Quick Start guide:

  • (1) On or just prior to the 1st trading day of each week, STI runs an analysis for each model and shares the resulting ETF &/or individual stock trade signals (i.e., buys, sells, holds) with members so they can follow along in real time during the 1-week holding period.

  • (2) Trades are executed at or near market open (~9:30 a.m. ET) on the 1st trading day of each week and positions are held for the remainder of the corresponding week (regardless if an individual holding go goes up, down, or sideways).

Other important points
:

  • Each model trades a different # of positions as indicated by their titles:
    - SPUU x1 (weekly): always trades/holds x1 position
    - Ultra x2 (monthly): always trades/holds x2 positions

  • The positions in each model are equally weighted in terms of what % of total invested money allocated to a given model is allocated to each position. Using a hypothetical $1000 as an example:

    SPUU (weekly) x1:
    -100%: Position 1 = $1000

    Ultra x2 (monthly):
    -50%: Position 1 = $500
    -50%: Position 2 = $500

  • The entire $ amount allocated to a given model is always intended to be "fully invested," i.e., at no point is a portion of the allocation meant to be on the sidelines or "in cash." When positions are sold following trade signals, the full $ amount from sold positions are used to buy the new positions.

  • STI-style trading strategies can be successfully executed on a variety of trading/investing platforms. However, from an "ease of use" perspective, STI prefers (& uses) M1 Finance. One benefit is that M1 gives account holders the ability to create separate portfolios (or "pies") making it easier to compartmentalize strategies, which in turn allows for more efficient trade execution and accurate performance tracking over time.

Model Descriptions

-Basic Trader x1:

  • One active position, updated weekly. Seeks to outperform the market through a focused approach with lower expected volatility.

  • Trades 2x levered S&P 500 fund: SPUU during "risk on" periods. Alternatively, will pivot to more defensive ETFs during "risk off" periods.

-Alpha Trader x2:

  • Two active positions, updated weekly. Seeks higher return potential through a more aggressive approach with greater expected volatility.

  • Trades levered ETFs but occasionally will pivot to individual stocks or non-levered ETFs.
