Hello! We love to share a 10" Newtonian Telescope with our local community and everyone online. Every Sunday at Sunset (weather permitting), guests at our show receive stickers commemorating what they saw through our telescope and then we let them sign it with a permanent marker.
Eventually the telescopes get completely covered in signatures and we replace them using donation funds to always have room for more. The telescopes covered in signatures get inspected, fine-tuned and then donated to a local school. How we decide which school gets the scope is by tallying up everyone's votes during our outreach show. During the summer months we average 50-60 visitors a night and 10-20 during the colder seasons.
Currently we have donated three 10" telescopes to different schools using this program. We're hoping to have our fourth telescope donated by 2024!
