À propos Square Peg Therapy
Community centred support practice and research
A cuppa with me is good value.
Therapy is weird and expensive!
Collaboration, co-research, collective care and creativity however, are wonderful ways of informing the kinds of relationships, knowledge gathering and sharing that is possible when you wander off the well beaten path of pathologizing struggle and trying to 'fix it' with the latest 'treatment'.
The majority of people I work with are low income earners, disadvantaged in the work force by factors like capacity, ability, neuro-typicality, values, race, gender, age. The rich network of relationships that constitute my practice, is built on low barrier access and humanness.
If I charged "what I was worth" the people I care most about couldn't afford to continue. Striking a balance isn't easy, but the generous sliding scale will continue, by donation services for QTBIPOC will continue, hours of letter writing, consultations over coffee, mentorship, resource sharing, and connection can continue, with a simple gesture from you.
My practice isn't private as such, but it is fiercely independent with an ability to respond in creative ways that organizations can't.
In 2023 I provided free or heavily reduced direct services to the value $7500.
Throw something in the hat, so I can say yes with confidence more often!
