Dear you,
In October, I received a grant from the Dutch organization for songwriters & composers to help me share new compositions. One of the ways I could spend that money was by making a video, and I thought the best song for that was my new single Fairy Lights. The main feeling behind that song is feeling disconnected from all of the Christmas cheer. That's a feeling I know really well. I've experienced long periods where I felt like no one could reach me and I could reach no one, even my friends, even my family. I would see them, have a conversation, but would leave feeling further away from them than ever. It felt like I was in a fish bowl and they were on the other side. A fish bowl turned into a snow globe as Fairy Lights was written for Revanche Records' Christmas album. Fellow songwriter and animator Mark Lohmann worked around the image of being stuck in a snow globe and turned it into something magical and life-affirming.
