My name is Somesh Kumar. I am a Graphic Designer and Illustrator, working out of Bengaluru, India. "Little by Little" is my personal project that I have been pursuing almost full-time, in addition to raising my two-year-old daughter, Sufi.
This is my story of growing up in Bihar. I was born in a small town called Arrah. Because of my mother's transferable job, I had to move to different parts of Bihar but my father had to stay back at Arrah because of the nature of his job. While moving from one place to another, I came to realise that my father had slowly turned into an alcoholic. This story surrounds my journey through the changing landscape of Bihar and coming to terms with my father’s drinking habit.
This project of mine has taken on a shape of its own and, with each passing day, I figure out what a massive task it is to work on long-form comics. Please support my work on the novel by Buying me a Coffee.
You can read the first chapter of the novel at www.littlebylittle.online.
UPDATE!
I am currently working on the fourth chapter of my novel. After working on my book for more than three years, a sense of fatigue has set in. I can see myself dragging my feet, and part of the reason is that I am giving time to commercial projects because working alone on the novel was not sustainable anymore. So whenever I do get to work on my novel, I encounter starting trouble, and the enthusiasm feels pretty dried up. Sometimes you need a little help from your friends. I am hoping that sharing the pages from my ongoing chapter with all of you will help me look forward to the blank pages waiting to be drawn and inked. The pages will be under the post section as and when I have them ready. There is plenty of editing waiting at the end of the tunnel, but I need to see a glimmer of the light at the end of it first. :)
Please read and share with others. If you feel like telling me anything about my novel, then don't hesitate back. Please know that you don't have to say nice stuff to me as an obligation, but if you genuinely feel like sharing something, then always feel free.
And yes, buy me a coffee too, if you like the pages.

After all this time, it still never ceases to amaze me - from the technicalities, the illustrations to the rawness of the narrative itself. I didn't consciously think about it, but I am amazed that a narration about this setting (Bihar, middle/upper-middle class, the story itself) can be presented in English so well without compromising on the relatability. Kudos! And all the very best for the next set of pages.

Absolutely loved it! I regret not picking up the other copy at Comic-Con. Nostalgia, of course, is the driving force, but beyond that, it evokes a sense of a lost childhood—moments that feel both distant and familiar. The illustrations are stunning, bringing every scene to life with incredible detail and emotion. How can I get the other books .

I'm sorry that it's so little. Anyway I will be eagerly waiting for the rest of the story!!
